Didn't get to see all the films you'd hoped to, during the recent 3rd annual One Earth Film Festival 2014? Below is our list of featured films, with information and links describing whether and how you might be able to obtain a copy to watch. Some of the films may be available via your Netflix account, or at your local library (even if we've not listed them as such below). We found these films to be incredibly inspiring, and hope you will too! - Amazon Gold (2012, 53 minutes). Official site. Not available in DVD release, but screening info (locations, dates) is on their website. To inquire about bringing this film to your community, contact the filmmakers.
- Blackfish (2013, 90 minutes). Official site. This film is available for digital rental or purchase through Amazon Instant Video, Netflix, and iTunes. The Blu Ray or standard DVD is available for purchase via Amazon. It may also be available at your local library. The Oak Park Public Library has several copies available through inter-library loan.
- Comfort Zone (2013, 67 minutes). Official site. Purchase a copy of the DVD for home use and non-public screenings.
- The Curious Garden (2012, 10.5 minutes). The full film can be viewed online, and the DVD can be purchased through Scholastic or Amazon.
- Do the Math (2013, 44 minutes). Official site. Request a free online screening link here by filling out the brief "Learn How to Watch the Movie" form.
- The Economics of Happiness (2011, 69 minutes). Official site. Rent or purchase a digital download of the film.
- GMO OMG (2013, 90 minutes). Official site. Coming soon to theatres nationwide. You can search for screenings in your state, or, purchase the DVD starting Summer 2014. To inquire about bringing a screening to your community, see here.
- Green Gold (2012, 48 minutes). The full film is available to stream online, at no charge.
- Growing Cities (2013, two versions - 60 minutes and 90 minutes). Official site. You may find or host a screening, or purchase the DVD. Home-use DVDs will be available after the film's general release in late 2014, but organizations can purchase a screening copy now.
- Harmony (2012, 90 minutes). Official site. The Harmony website has a page where you can inquire about the DVD release.
- Jens Jensen The Living Green (2013, 60 minutes). Official site. Screenings (locations, dates) are listed on their website. You may request to host a screening, or you may also purchase an in-home-use copy of the DVD.
- The Last Ocean (2013, 84 minutes). Official site. This film is available for rent via online streaming.
- Let's Talk About Soil (2012, 6 minutes). Official site. The full film is available at no charge on this page. Click the video link in the left column, about half-way down the page.
- Lost and Found (2011, 24 minutes). Official site. The full film is available online (scroll to the bottom of the page and click the video link), and can be purchased at Amazon and on iTunes.
- Miya's Sushi (2013, 5 minutes). Official Vimeo page. The full film is available for viewing, at no charge, online.
- More Than Honey (2012, 90 minutes). Official site. Rent for online viewing, or purchase the home-use DVD. Check your local library for copies as well; Oak Park Public Library has several copies available through inter-library loan.
- Musicwood (2012, 80 minutes). Official site. This film may be purchased as a download via iTunes, or on DVD.
- The New Environmentalists (2013, 28 minutes). Official site. This program is broadcast on PBS stations and on the Sundance Channel's prime time programming block, The Green. You may also view 3 of the film's 6 vignettes free online. To inquire about purchasing the full DVD (all 6 vignettes) for private home viewing, or to bring to your community, library, or school -- contact the filmmakers.
- Plastic Paradise: The Great Pacific Garbage Patch (2013, 57 minutes). Official site. You may view a list of screenings, or request to host a screening. DVD's are not yet in distribution, but you can pre-order a copy using this form.
- rEvolution (2013, 90 minutes). Official site. Available to preview, buy, and download through iTunes Canada. Wide-release distribution of DVD (including in the U.S., will be available after August 20, 2014. Stay tuned to website for info.
- Sacred Economics (2012, 12 minutes). Official site. The full film is available online free of charge; donations are accepted to support the "gift economy" described in the film.
- Saving Pelican 895 (2011, 40 minutes). Official site. You may purchase a copy of the film DVD at the HBO Shop online.
- The Soil Solution (2012, 29 minutes). Official site. This film is only available on physical DVD by contacting the filmmakers(contact us page) on their website.
- The Story of Solutions (2013, 9 minutes). Official site. View the complete short film free online.
- Sushi: The Global Catch (2012, 75 minutes). Official site. Available for digital download via iTunes, Playstation, or XBox360.
- TINY: A Story About Living Small (2013, 62 minutes). Official site. Currently, TINY is only available in theatrical and community screenings around the US and Canada, per the schedule that is posted on their website here. You can inquire about bringing TINY to your community, library or local school as well.
- Toxic Hot Seat (2013, 91 minutes). Official site. Not available for in-home DVD release yet, but you can request to host a screening using the form on their website.
- Trashed (2012, 97 minutes). Official site. You may purchase the DVD on their website for private, in-home use as well as for educational use with public screening rights. Please also check your local library for a copy; the Oak Park Public Library has it available through inter-library loan.
- Urban Roots (2011, 93 minutes). Official site. Rent or purchase a digital download, or purchase the DVD.
- Watermelon Magic (2013, 28 minutes). Official site. This film is currently available in Festival screenings, and at science museums and IMAX theatres nationally.
