In-Person Training to be Volunteer Monarch Monitor

  • Forest Park Public Library 7555 Jackson Boulevard Forest Park, IL, 60130 United States (map)

The Keller Science Action Center invites you to learn about the Monarch Community Science Project. As you may know, the monarch butterfly has experienced an 80% population decline over the last two decades. That decline is partly due to loss of milkweed plants, the only food source for monarch caterpillars.

Now we need you to help us understand how successful that milkweed is at feeding caterpillars throughout their life stages. This kind of research can only be done by a community scientist, and we think this project is a good fit for both first-time and experienced community scientists. Your time commitment depends on how many plants you choose to monitor, but the average time is 30 minutes per week.

Please consider attending our in-person trainings, please sign-up at the link below.
