Oak Park/River Forest Resilient Communities Forum

Get informed, inspired and connected for the year ahead at the Oak Park/River Forest Resilient Communities Forum at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at the 19th Century Club, 178 Forest Ave., in Oak Park.

Hear firsthand the latest sustainability news from the North American Mayor’s Summit in Chicago, the Chicago Community Climate Forum, and the UN climate talks in Bonn, Germany. Local residents who took part in these events, including Village President Catherine Adduci (River Forest) and Mayor Anan Abu Taleb (Oak Park), have been invited to share their reflections and “takeaways” on how cities are taking action to build more resilient and sustainable communities.

We’ll also get an update on the significant work already happening and in process in Oak Park and River Forest contributing to implementation of the PlanItGreen sustainability plan.

We will gather, listen and act to address key areas in which we, as residents, can create meaningful change and continue our community’s leadership role in building a resilient community for all.

We’ll have a snack supper and networking starting at 6:30 p.m. and the program will start at 7:00 p.m.

Make it a New Year’s Resolution to participate. Please RSVP here.

This event is organized by PlanItGreen, Green Community Connections, the River Forest Sustainability Commission and the Oak Park Environment and Energy Commission with support from Community Works.

I will attend for Trailside Museum part of the Forest Preserves of Cook County. Would you be interesting in me providing literature such as maps and program guides? Thank you for putting this together. Sue

That will be great, Susan. The Forest Preserves and their great programs are a wonderful resource for our area and this forum will be a good opportunity to share info. Thank you!
